Modern Railways RVE (Rail Vehicles and Enhancements) show – the premier event in the rolling stock service and refurbishment sector – is in its second year under Key Publishing ownership and continues to go from strength to strength.
It attracts senior figures from the rail industry, including train operators, leasing companies and engineering workshops, and is a shop window for independent engineering companies and service providers specialising in specific areas of maintenance, refurbishment and renewal.
RVE, held at the Derby Arena in October, is in its seventh year and combines a trade exhibition with a rail conference. It also hosts the sector’s leading Meet the Buyer event, organised for Key Publishing by one of rail’s leading trade bodies – Rail Forum Midlands – in partnership with the Department for International Trade.
Last year’s show generated more than 200 meetings between some of rail’s household names, such as Hitachi, Siemens and Transport for London, and suppliers of products and services focused on refurbishment of rolling stock.
Headline speakers confirmed for RVE’s 2019 free rail conference include:
Phillip Hufton, managing director of Bombardier UK;
Mike Noakes, Head of Rail at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy; and
Professor Simon Iwnicki, Director of the Institute of Railway Research at the University of Huddersfield, who will be representing the UK Railway Research and Innovation Network (UKRRIN).
Many of the rail industry’s best-known names will be among this year’s exhibitors, with a third of the available floor space already booked. Porterbrook, one of the UK’s three major rolling stock leasing companies, has committed to repeating last year’s ‘platinum level’ sponsorship for 2019 with additional sponsorship from Italian seat manufacturer FISA and Garrandale Rail.
Last year’s event attracted 1,000 visitor pre-registrations with almost a quarter from company director level or above. Roger Mortimer, Key Publishing Group Editor – Transport, has overall responsibility for managing Modern Railways RVE while Modern Railways’ advertisement manager James Farrell is responsible for stand sales. The event is free for rail professionals. Visit the website for further details and registration.
